Payment can be made by email transfer to [email protected] and is due at the conclusion of the session. Once payment is received a receipt will be sent to the client by email via the Jane app. Please keep your receipts to submit at year-end for a medical expense tax deduction or to submit to your health benefits plan for reimbursement. If you have any questions or concern about my fees or payment policy, don’t hesitate to contact me.
Full or partial coverage is available through most extended health care benefit plans. Please check with your provider to make sure Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist services are covered. You will want to ensure that you have coverage for a Social Worker with a Master’s degree.
I am unable to direct bill insurance providers; however, I do issue a receipt after every session (upon payment) that can be submitted to your provider for reimbursement should they cover RSW/psychotherapy services. If you do not have insurance or a benefits plan, please note that my services are considered medical expenses and can be claimed on your income tax.
Psychotherapists and Social Workers are recognized by the CRA as health care professionals for the purposes of the medical expense tax credit.
It is understandable that there are times that you will need to cancel or reschedule a session.
You will not be charged for your session when you provide 24hrs notice of cancellation or if you have an emergency situation. If you do not give 24hrs notice or do not show up for your scheduled session, you will be charged the full rate of the session fee. To cancel an appointment you can send a text or email or leave or voicemail.
The sessions are 55 minutes. How often we meet is dependent on the needs identified. Most clients begin with sessions closer together to learn tools and coping mechanisms and then eventually over time sessions are spread out becoming less frequent. We can discuss during our initial meeting.
Confidentiality is a high priority. I will not disclose anything that is discussed within a session with anyone without your consent. There are some limitations to confidentiality that may require a release of information without consent such as:
When a client is threatening harm to self
When a client is threatening harm to others
When there is a medical emergency
When a child is “considered at risk”
When a file is subpoenaed and must be handed over to the courts
Yes. Jane App is HIPAA & PIPEDA approved, your privacy is of utmost importance to me.
The first session is where we get to know one another. I will gather information about relevant personal history, your current concerns and the reasons you have reached out for therapy.
We get curious about the ‘why now?’ and also discuss your needs, goals and expectations.
You will get a sense of who I am and can decide if it’s going to be a good fit.
It is ok if you don’t think it’s going to work. I am happy to provide you with some names of other therapists for you.
